Oh Christmas Tree!

The challenge this week over on the Winter Wonderland Blog is 'Oh Christmas Tree' and so here is a little card I have made for it.

A slightly different shape for me just for a change and kept quite simple (time is running out!) but I did love the sweet little Forever Friends image and added a glittered snowflake cut from a Magnolia Doohickey die to finish it off.  I hope you like :).

Have a good day.

Special Birthday

My father-in-law was 80 last weekend and whilst I struggle with men's cards it does help when there is a special number that you can pick up on.

I was pleased with how it came together and especially as they were papers that I have had for ages and the stamped image was a 'freebie' from a magazine, also sometime ago.  The button was from my friend's button box (I was round there crafting) so it almost feels like I have made it for free and if not free then at least I have used up some stash!

Have a great day

Red and Blue

This week's challenge over on the Winter Wonderland Blog is to create a card using the colours red and blue, so a nice easy one.  However, the card I started making for it didn't quite happen in time but this one is one I started a while ago for the 'One for the Boys' challenge that didn't get done in time either!

I live in hope of one day being organised but it is obviously not going to happen this year!

White Rabbit Card

It is my Uncle's Birthday tomorrow and I always find men's cards tricky.  But I absolutely love this White Rabbit image which is from the IndigoBlu Alice II Stamp sheet and I had fun using some Tim Holtz Distress Inks to colour the background, a bit of water 'flicking' and background stamping with the swirl from the same stamp set and also the 'Harlequin' stamp from IndigoBlu and it was done and in all under an hour - a record for me :).  Hopefully my uncle will be pleased with it.

I kept the inside very simple.  I love the font for the Birthday words which are on another IndigoBlu stamp 'Aloysius'.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

You Passed!

My daughter passed her driving test last week and I wanted to share this little card with you that I made for her to mark the occasion!  I used another gorgeous Lili of the Valley Stamp (Mini Bear) that I bought for just this occasion and then ended up doing bits to the card for about a week or so including colouring half the car at one sitting and then coming back several days later trying to work out what colours I was using - not to be recommended and goes some way to explaining the somewhat poor colouring quality.  It is an easel card and hasn't ended up quite as I had hoped but my daughter was delighted with it which is what counts and coincidentally I coloured the car the colour that her first car has ended up being, how lucky was that :).

Happy Crafting!

Baby Love!

I seem to have gone awol on the blogging front and, almost, on the crafting front too but am hoping to get back into rhythm again, fingers crossed!

I have a couple of baby cards to share with you.  A friend of mine had a baby girl a few weeks ago and when I got together with my lovely crafting buddy Tracy a couple of weeks ago I coloured the two little Lili of the Valley images (called Special Delivery) but unfortunately that was then as far as I got for another two weeks!  Anyway, I finally finished them both - just as well there isn't really a time scale on giving baby cards or maybe that is the problem, if I had a date to get it finished by I might have faired a little better?!

I made the boy one just so that I have one in stock as I know lots of people who are due babies over the coming months but I will need to make another baby girl card now to replace the one I have given!

Thank you for looking :).

Lucky Streak

Hi

I was really excited to be chosen in the top 3 for the Winter Wonderland Challenge again last week with my Three Kings card.  I quite fancied having one of their blingy things that states that 'I'm a top 3 winner' but couldn't decide if that was showing off or not but as I couldn't work out how to add it that sort of decided things!!!

I created this card for my Godson's birthday at the end of October but hadn't got round to posting it.

When I got together with my lovely crafting friends Nicky and Martina a few weeks ago I was giving them a quick lesson on colouring with Promarkers.  I am certainly no expert but we had a really fun afternoon colouring in (you can only really confess to spending an afternoon colouring to other crafters!) and this was the image I used.  Normally I colour to match papers I have already chosen but this was the other way round as I had to find papers to match my colouring but was absolutely thrilled to be able to use a whole load of leftovers for this project, so satisfying.

I have realised that when cropping the photo I have cropped a little too close to the top of the card and cut some off and as the card has already gone I can't try again so my apologies!

Have a great day.

We Three Kings

The challenge this week over on the  Winter Wonderland Blog was to create a card using the theme of either 'While Shepherds Watched' or 'We Three Kings'.  As I had stamps that were suitable I thought I would give it a go.

I have had the stamps for years and they were from Rubbadubbado (not sure if the company is still going?!).  I used Distress Inks and the crown stamp to create my own patterned paper and I found these fibres in my stash - always lovely to use old bits up :).

Thank you for looking.

Tea and Cake!

I created this card just so I could practice my colouring with my Promarkers.  I have still got a long way to go but I am hoping that 'practice makes perfect' so I will keep going1  I love colouring in - something very therapeutic about it or is it just the feeling of reverting to childhood?!!

The image is one of the Lili of the Valley stamps which I adore - so sweet - and I think can be used for a child or an adult.  The sentiment is also Lili of the Valley and the papers were free ones with a magazine.

Thank you for looking :).

First Time Lucky!

I was so excited to find my purple Christmas card had been chosen in the Top 3 of the Winter Wonderland Photo Challenge from last week - definiately feel inspired to try some more :).

This week I needed a sympathy card and they aren't the sort of card you exclaim 'oh goodie, I can make one of those', well not for me anyway.  However I gave it a go and whilst I was at it I made a couple more so that I wouldn't end up in the same position when I need one another time.  I didn't get a chance to photograph the one I actually sent but they were all very similar and these are the other two I made.

I inked and stamped the stamps with versamark and then added clear embossing powder and heat embossed them.  After that I just used three different Distress Ink Pads on the white cardstock and the stamped images acted as a resist.  I matted these onto scraps of co-ordinating cardstock and then onto a plain white card blank.  I wanted to keep the design simple without too much fussing and hopefully I have achieved that.

Thank you for looking.

Gotta start somewhere!

Yay, I have started a new blog :).  I have been meaning to for a little while but hadn't got round to it however having been inspired by the very talented Kathy and her lovely blog and having discovered the Winter Wonderland Challenge Blog through it which helps you 'take the stress & strain out of Christmas' by setting weekly craft challenges so that by Christmas you should have a whole pile of handmade cards ready to send, I thought this was a really great idea and decided to have a go (would have been better if I had started earlier but ho hum!).

This week's challenge was a to take inspiration from a photo that included purple/lilac baubles and sparkly christmas tree branches.  When I was looking through my stamps to see what I could possibly use I came across this lovely stamp from Penny Black and ir seemed perfect.  The paper was more challenging as I am not a big 'purple' fan but found this in amongst my stash and it seemed to work.  So I have taken my inspiration from the colour, the baubles and the sparkle.

I hope you like it and thank you for looking.
